Cricket is returning to Africa for another season of cricket pyrotechnics, talent scouting and a dash of entertainment with Season 2 of Zim Afro T10 league at the end of this month.

Some big names are headed to Harare after the six franchises finalised their teams from a player draft on Monday.

At the Harare Sports Club from September 21 to 29 will be the likes of David Warner, Sikander Raza, Colin Munro, Dawid Malan, Carlos Brathwaite and Chris Lynn.

A property of the UAE-based businessman Shaji Ul-Mulk, who also patents the Abu Dhabi T10, the Zim Afro league provides an opportunity for players from Zimbabwe and the continental region to prosper.

More than 400 players had registered for the selection process, of which 64 made the cut following 12 rounds of drafting. The Bulawayo Braves Jaguars picked up as many as 12 players to make up their squad 16.

“There is a lot of excitement ahead of Season 2 of Zim Afro T10 as the most entertaining players are set to rewrite the record books in Harare. The squads are all very competitive, strong but with a good mix of youth as well. I hope the players have a fantastic tournament, and may the best team win,” said Shaji Ul-Mulk. Each team signed up players while having to name one player each in Superstar and Icon category respectively.
