The festival is a relatively new but rapidly growing event that celebrates the rich and diverse cultures of Africa.
It was first held in 2020, with the aim of bringing together the African diaspora and showcasing the continent's vibrant heritage through music, art, fashion, and cuisine.
The festival was conceived as a platform to promote cultural exchange and understanding between Africa and the Middle East.
It quickly gained popularity due to its unique blend of traditional and contemporary African elements, attracting a diverse audience from around the world.
The inaugural festival in 2020 featured performances by renowned African artists and included various cultural exhibitions and workshops.
Despite the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the event was a success and set the stage for future editions. In 2021-2022, it expanded its lineup to include more artists and a wider range of activities, such as fashion shows and culinary experiences.
It also began to attract international media attention, further boosting its profile. Last year, the festival saw a significant increase in attendance, with over 20,000 visitors.
It featured high-profile performances and collaborations, solidifying its reputation as a premier cultural event in the region.
Jjumba Ali Mirundi, a Ugandan festival-goer, expressed his excitement for the upcoming festival.
Mirundi, who's preparing his papers to work as a nurse, told Aletihad, "I can't wait for the All Africa Festival this year. Last year's event was absolutely amazing. The music, the food, the vibrant atmosphere – it was all incredible. I met so many wonderful people and got to experience the rich diversity of African cultures."
"Actually it was nice experiencing something that felt like home, in the middle of Abu Dhabi. This year, I'm looking forward to even more fantastic performances and delicious food. It's going to be an unforgettable celebration. Can't wait to see Eddy Kenzo."
