The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) began today in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, drawing broad international participation to present a renewed vision aimed at accelerating global climate action by aligning global priorities with practical capacities and turning them into tangible and equitable outcomes.

In today's main session, the United Arab Emirates will formally hand over the COP presidency to Azerbaijan while continuing its role as a key partner in advancing global climate diplomacy efforts.

The UAE pavilion at COP29 highlights the nation's pioneering journey toward sustainability and climate neutrality, its significant strides in achieving sustainable development, and its innovative strategies to establish a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation. The pavilion also showcases the UAE's efforts in fostering international collaboration to address climate change impacts.

The “Global Climate Finance Framework” is a key focus at COP29, aiming to secure funds for developing nations to address climate-related costs.

The New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) is the focus of this year's summit. It represents the new annual climate finance target that will succeed the current $100 billion pledge, which is set to expire at the end of the year.
