The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC), has launched the My Home is Safe initiative to promote a culture of home safety and strengthen prevention and civil protection, encouraging families to adopt safe practices in their daily lives.

The launch coincides with the handover of residential units to beneficiaries of the Al Mizn Neighbourhood project and the Al Samha Housing Project in Abu Dhabi.

Brigadier Mohsen Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Sector at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, said the initiative reflects a proactive approach to establishing prevention as an everyday practice that begins at home.

He noted that it aims to make safety an integral part of residential life and raise family members’ awareness of their ability to anticipate and respond to risks, helping reduce domestic accidents and their consequences while enhancing community preparedness and quality of life.

Al Mansoori congratulated the Emirati beneficiaries on receiving their new homes, wishing them and their families safe and stable lives. He reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to strengthening coordination with the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre and unifying efforts to embed safety and prevention standards within new residential communities.

Saif Al Balushi, Director of the Real Estate Allocation Department at the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre, said: “Enabling citizens to achieve housing stability goes beyond providing a home; it extends to creating an integrated environment that ensures security, peace of mind and sustainability for Emirati families.

The My Home is Safe initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, reinforces home safety and represents a valuable addition that raises awareness of safe practices and supports the protection of lives and property, in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision of building a safer society with a better quality of life.”

The initiative provides a comprehensive training and guidance programme at new home handover centres, targeting parents, children and domestic workers. It aims to develop their knowledge and skills in preventing domestic accidents and strengthen their preparedness to respond safely to emergencies.

The training programme covers several practical topics, including basic firefighting skills, first aid, domestic accident prevention, responding to kitchen and electrical fires, and the correct use of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. It also includes preparing a home evacuation plan and promoting child safety practices within the home.
