ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Centre, has released footage of traffic accidents caused by drivers reversing their vehicles dangerously.

The footage, posted on social media on Friday, aims to warn motorists about the risks of dangerous driving behaviour and the accidents it can cause.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate warned drivers against reversing on roads, especially after missing an exit or turning lane.

The Directorate urged drivers who miss an exit to continue driving and take the next exit to reach their destination safely, rather than reversing on a busy road.

The penalty for reversing dangerously is a fine of Dh500 and four traffic black points.

Under Article 1, driving a vehicle in a way that endangers the driver’s life or the lives, safety or security of others carries a Dh2,000 fine, 23 traffic black points and 60 days of vehicle impoundment for light vehicles.
