Visitors to Abu Dhabi’s iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque will now have to pay a minimum fee of Dh5 for entry. This fee applies to Emirates ID holders while entry for seniors above age 60 will be free. It will also be free for children below the age of three.

Tourists who do not possess Emirates IDs have to pay Dh10 for entry. For visitors who book through tour operators, a fee of Dh8 will be charged.

Bookings for the world-famous mosque can be made on www.szgmc.gov.ae/.

The mosque centre is open to visitors Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 8.30pm; Friday from 9am to 11.30am and 2.30pm to 8.30pm. Daily Sura Night Tours are from 9am to 9pm.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre welcomed over 3 million visitors in the first half of the year.

These included 1.8 million worshippers and fasting guests, 1.24 million visitors from various nationalities and 44,494 users of the centre's walking track.

There were 98,469 worshippers for Friday prayers and 229,139 worshippers for daily prayers, while 533,687 people performed prayers during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr.
