ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
More than 1,300 students participated in summer enrichment programmes delivered by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
In a statement, ADEK said the programmes focused on strengthening core academic skills, developing artificial intelligence capabilities and encouraging participation in sports and cultural activities.
The programmes were intended to help students continue learning during the summer break, explore new interests and return to school with greater confidence, ADEK said. They also provided classroom experience to participants in the department’s teacher-development pathways.
ADEK’s new Arabic and Math Summer Programme attracted 800 students in Grades 1 to 9. The six-week programme was designed to address gaps in core subjects while keeping students engaged in learning and physical activity.
Students used digital platforms and AI-supported tools to practise key concepts at their own pace, with guidance from mentors, the statement said.
The academic programme was combined with sporting activities delivered through Abu Dhabi Summer Sports at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Cultural experiences were also organised in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi to strengthen students’ connection to the community and national identity.
The programme provided practical experience to aspiring educators taking part in ADEK’s Kon Moallim and Midad teacher-development pathways. Participants worked with students as teachers and mentors, allowing them to apply their developing teaching skills in the classroom.
More than 500 Cycle 3 students also participated in the five-day AgenticVerse AI Program, which was delivered at 42 Abu Dhabi and MZN Hub Al Ain across five specialised cohorts.
The programme, titled “Agentic AI Systems – Designing Multi-Agent Intelligence”, moved students from learning about AI concepts to building AI-based projects through practical activities, ADEK said.
As part of the programme, Khalifa Fund delivered interactive sessions in which students developed ideas and solutions using AI technologies to address practical challenges.
Students also participated in workshops and challenges delivered with partners including Sandooq Al Watan and the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation. The activities involved applying AI capabilities to areas including national identity and heritage, future careers, safety and sustainability.
ADEK said its summer enrichment programmes combined education, emerging technology, culture, sports and industry engagement to extend learning beyond the classroom. The programmes were also intended to develop students’ confidence, curiosity and skills ahead of the new academic year.
