The UAE has revealed an ambitious policy to boost ecotourism in the country while taking steps to curb desertification and create greener areas. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said much progress had been made under the National Strategy to Combat Desertification 2022-2030.
His Highness said natural reserves had risen to 55 and added that 4,900 hectares of land were reclaimed for green projects. An impressive 3.2 million square metres of green areas have been added from the desert.
The project has also helped catalogue and protect 341,000 native trees. “Preserving our environment is a national responsibility, and investing in our natural resources is an investment in quality of life,” His Highness said.
