ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has reopened the E20 interchange connecting Khalifa City and Zayed City ahead of the new school year.

In a statement, DMT said a significant section of the highway leading to and from Abu Dhabi City would have two additional lanes available to motorists, increasing the total from three to five lanes in each direction.

Work on most of the western section of the E20 has been completed, while a new interchange and additional lanes on the eastern section are scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027, the statement said.

The broader E20 development project includes two new bridges and 10.5 kilometres of new ramps and loops. It also covers 1.5 kilometres of internal roads and eight traffic light junctions intended to improve safety across Khalifa City and neighbouring districts, DMT added.
