With the UAE’s education ministry’s decision to do away with homework at home, young students in public schools will get adequate rest and spend more time with families in their formative years of study in the new academic year.
The UAE had rolled out sweeping changes for students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 that drive better learning outcomes for your minds, while also developing their social and reading skills from an early age.
Daily reading at home for kids will be encouraged to cultivate early literacy, enhance language and cognitive development, the ministry said. It will foster a lifelong curiosity and passion for learning among students, officials at the ministry said.
That’s not all among slew of changes. The UAE has also limited digital learning for kids in Grade 6 in public schools based on a study conducted on 2,500 students across nine public schools.
Early results showed a clear improvement in academic performance in non-digital classrooms, specifically in mathematics, science and Arabic, alongside better behaviour and increased classroom focus.
“The initiative aims to balance technology integration with the reinforcement of fundamental skills to enhance academic achievement, critical thinking, cognitive development, educational interaction and discipline,” officials led by Minister of Education Sara Al Amiri said.
Students across the country will return to schools on August 31 after the summer break, The ministry said 1,180 public and private schools across country will welcome 1.277 million students.
Despite the regional crisis, 26,700 new students have been registered in public schools.
The Ministry also opened 11 new schools and educational complexes and deployed 5,810 school buses.
