ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
The United Arab Emirates has expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian aggression targeting two ADNOC tankers as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, without any injuries being reported.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasises freedom of navigation and rejects targeting commercial vessels or disrupting international maritime routes.
The Ministry stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of pressure or economic blackmail constitutes acts of piracy by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and poses a direct threat to the stability of the region and its people, as well as to global energy security.
The UAE urged Iran to cease these aggressive attacks, commit to halting all hostile acts and fully and unconditionally reopen the Strait, thereby ensuring regional security and the stability of the global economy and trade.
