ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Abu Dhabi Police have stepped up field awareness campaigns on tyre safety as part of the Safe Summer and Accident-Free Summer initiatives.
The initiatives, which are undertaken in cooperation with Al Fahim Group, Michelin, and Central Motors & Equipment, aim to educate motorists on how to ensure tyre safety as temperatures soar.
Police urged motorists to use tyres that meet approved specifications, warning that worn or substandard tyres are more prone to blowouts in high temperatures. Blowouts increase the risk of the motorist losing control of the vehicles, which puts all road users in the vicinity at risk.
The campaign also highlighted the importance of routine tyre inspections, including maintaining recommended tyre pressure and carrying out preventive vehicle maintenance, in order to improve road safety and reduce accidents.
As part of the campaign, Abu Dhabi Police also offered free tyre inspections and pressure checks, alongside distributing road safety leaflets and promotional items.
Police said they would continue awareness campaigns and community partnerships to promote safe driving behaviour, in support of the emirate's Smart Road Safety strategy.
