Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning on Tuesday of a rise in fake social media accounts, fradulent text messages, and online scams promoting stays at chalets and farmhouses at attractive prices during the holidays season.

The warning forms part of the force's Proactive Security strategy, and comes amid growing concerns about fraudulent rental advertisements designed to target families and other members of the community.

In a statement on X, Abu Dhabi Police said that it would continue promoting security awareness and educational campaigns to address emerging forms of cyber fraud, including false advertisements and fraudulent websites offering bookings for chalets and vacation homes. The campaigns aim to help members of the public identify scams, and encourage them to actively verify the authenticity of offers and advertisers.

The initiative also urges individuals to make payments and transfer funds only through official channels.

Abu Dhabi Police called on the public to follow official platforms in order to stay informed, and to immediately report fraudulent attempts or suspicious online activity.

Reports can be submitted to the Aman service by calling 8002626, by sending a text message to 2828, by using the Abu Dhabi Police smart application, or by emailing aman@adpolice.gov.ae

"This helps strengthen the digital security system and contributes to protecting the community from fake accounts and newly created online fraud sites," the statement added.
