SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)

The first Abu Dhabi Global Sustainable Security Summit gathers global leaders, experts and institutions at a critical time — when closer cooperation is necessary amid evolving security challenges and rapidly advancing technologies, a senior official said.

Held alongside this year’s International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience (ISNR), the three-day summit is organised by the Ministry of Interior and Rabdan Academy in collaboration with ADNEC Group. It opens today and runs until May 21.

Speaking to Aletihad, Salem Saeed Al Saeedi, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, said the summit was created as a global platform for innovators, decision-makers, and industry partners to discuss the future of security and resilience in a changing world.

“The summit demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to promoting international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and future readiness, while strengthening its role as a trusted global partner in addressing emerging security challenges,” Al Saeedi said.

Global collaboration, he stressed, has become increasingly necessary as security concerns continue to transcend borders.

“Today’s security challenges are interconnected, borderless, and complex,” Al Saeedi said, pointing to issues such as cyber threats, transnational crime, terrorism, critical infrastructure risks, and technological disruptions.

At forums such as the summit, expertise is shared as governments, academia, international organisations, and the private sector work together to address future threats, he said.

Technology, particularly artificial intelligence, is expected to be central to those discussions. He said these next-gen innovations are transforming how institutions anticipate risks, respond to crises, and enhance operational readiness.

“AI and data analytics provide faster and more accurate insights that support predictive security, risk assessment, decision-making, and resource optimisation,” enabling institutions to identify threats earlier and strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure, Al Saeedi added.

At the summit, Rabdan Academy will also showcase its latest academic and professional programmes, including specialised initiatives in artificial intelligence, crisis management, financial crime, and advanced security studies.

The academy will also highlight research-driven platforms and strategic partnerships that support innovation and knowledge exchange.
