DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The Cybercrime Department, at the General Department of Criminal Investigation of Dubai Police, has warned against videos circulating on social media that promote the excessive consumption of energy drinks, particularly among children, due to the serious health risks they pose.

Dubai Police stressed that some digital content is designed purely to attract views and engagement, with no regard for the serious health and behavioural consequences.

They urged parents to monitor the content their children consume and to instil in them an awareness of the dangers of blindly imitating everything they see on social media.

Health impact

The Force pointed out that excessive consumption of energy drinks can lead to severe complications, including heart rhythm disorders, convulsions, loss of consciousness, and even the risk of sudden cardiac arrest.

They further noted that children may experience a range of adverse health effects, such as poisoning, stomach disorders, heightened anxiety, tension and irritability, impaired concentration, memory and sleep, as well as rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure.

Health Information

Dubai Police urged the public to obtain health information from reliable sources and to report any digital content that encourages dangerous behaviour or threatens the safety of community members.

They called on the public to report violations and cybercrimes through the Dubai Police smart app, the E-Crime platform dedicated to receiving cybercrime reports, or by calling 901.

Awareness Platform

Dubai Police has launched an awareness e-platform aimed at spreading knowledge about cybercrimes.

The platform offers valuable content in both Arabic and English, covering all aspects of protection against the dangers of cybercrime, as well as how to recognise and avoid fraudulent methods.
