ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
The Abu Dhabi Police's Happiness Patrol, along with members of the "We Are All Police" community programme, greeted pupils with flowers and gifts as they returned to classrooms in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
The initiative forms part of Abu Dhabi Police's broader road safety efforts and falls under the "Proud of the UAE" campaign, which promotes values of belonging, unity and social cohesion.
Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said that the initiative reflects Abu Dhabi Police's commitment to improving road safety awareness among students and parents. It also encourages responsible behaviour that helps protect lives and create a safer traffic environment.
He added that, through positive reinforcement, the campaign aims to educate pupils on the importance of following road-crossing rules and using school buses safely. At the same time, it reminds drivers to reduce speed near schools and obey traffic signals, especially during peak hours.
Brig Al Balushi called on parents and drivers to cooperate with the relevant authorities, follow traffic instructions and avoid unsafe behaviour such as random parking or distractions while driving, stressing that student safety is a shared responsibility that requires everyone's support.
He added that Abu Dhabi Police will continue to carry out field awareness initiatives throughout the academic year to improve the quality of life and strengthen the culture of road safety across the community.
