ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Ministry of Defence has announced the launch of the “Leadership Competency Assessment” model for male Emirati high school graduates of the current academic year, as part of efforts to develop a specialised training system that meets the highest standards of readiness.

The initiative aims to prepare a new generation of national leaders and specialised cadres who will contribute to protecting the future of the nation and ensuring the sustainability of its security.

The Ministry stated that the assessment model, designed for Emirati youth graduating in the 2025–2026 academic year, is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. A pilot phase will take place from April 13 to 14, followed by the official phase from April 15 to 18.

The launch comes in line with the leadership’s directives to invest in the capabilities of young Emiratis by guiding them into an integrated pathway focused on developing personal attributes, cognitive and leadership skills, analytical thinking, strategic decision-making, and readiness to contribute to the military institution and national security.

Forward-Looking Vision

The Ministry of Defence emphasised that the assessment model reflects the UAE’s vision of preparing generations capable of keeping pace with future developments. It focuses on enabling young people to discover and develop their potential within an integrated framework that combines knowledge with practical application, while opening opportunities for them to contribute to national development under the umbrella of the Armed Forces.

The Ministry added that this pathway reflects a forward-looking vision for the next phase by preparing cadres capable of strategic thinking and performing under pressure, helping to build a strong base of talent able to sustain the nation’s excellence and long-term competitiveness.

It also explained that the model reinforces a clear principle: the nation’s future protectors from among the young elite are not chosen by chance, but shaped through determination and discipline. In this sense, the initiative represents a strategic investment in national resilience, social cohesion, human readiness, and national strength.

Enhancing National Responsibility

The Ministry confirmed that the model forms part of efforts to assess and prepare young people for national service and to further develop the training system by enabling them to discover their abilities and refine their skills within an environment that combines knowledge and practice. It is designed to prepare cadres capable of strategic thinking and working under pressure.

Specialised Assessments
The model represents a pathway for developing the expertise and capabilities of young people so that they may become future guardians of the nation’s security and stability. It is intended for those who seek difficult challenges, aspire to push beyond their limits, and see themselves as future protectors of the homeland.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that high school students will receive SMS messages to begin the assessment remotely from home using their personal devices. It urged everyone to follow its official channels for details on registration procedures and application requirements in accordance with approved standards.
