With homes doubling as classrooms, UAE authorities have emphasised the need for strong support systems for parents and students.

The Ministry of Education has issued guidelines that not only define key objectives and set parameters for remote learning, but also underscore the importance of continuous engagement between schools and families.

These measures aim to ensure students remain supported both academically and emotionally, while parents stay informed, involved, and equipped to guide their children's learning at home.

Clear communication and close coordination between schools and families have become essential to maintaining a productive and balanced learning environment - and parents agree.

Families have been advised to notify schools promptly if their children are unable to attend classes, as absences can disrupt academic progress.

Umm Hind, a mother of two, believes that consistent communication with teachers does make a difference, particularly during periods of distance learning.

"I contact the school right away to find out what was covered and how we can catch up when my child misses a class," she said. "That kind of coordination keeps my children on track and helps prevent learning gaps."

Beyond attendance, parents are also encouraged to inform schools about technical challenges and the need for additional academic support.

Umm Alia, another mother, noted that having quick access to technical assistance has been especially valuable, given that digital platforms are not always free of glitches.

"My daughter occasionally runs into issues logging into her lessons, but reaching out to the school helps resolve them quickly," she said.

"Without that communication, she could easily fall behind, so it really shows how important this connection is."

For Umm Hamdan, the focus is on securing extra academic support when needed. "Every child learns differently, and sometimes they need help beyond the classroom," she said. "By staying in touch with teachers, I can better understand my son's needs and work with the school to support him.”
