The UAE maintains a strategic stockpile of essential goods sufficient to cover market needs for four to six months, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, said at a media briefing on Tuesday.
He stressed that all vital sectors, including food distribution, retail, and tourism, are operating normally and without disruption.
The UAE’s diversified economy, robust infrastructure, and global trade partnerships have enabled it to withstand regional and international crises, Bin Touq said.
The country’s strategic storage of basic goods, combined with a wide network of importers and distribution centers, ensures the continued availability of essential products and price stability even under adverse conditions, he added.
The UAE also has the ability to secure alternative markets efficiently and rapidly if necessary, according to Bin Touq.
He also stressed that the ministry monitors supply chains, market prices, and commercial practices daily, conducting inspections and consumer outreach to prevent shortages, unfair pricing, or improper market behaviour.
This involves using a specialised digital platform linking 627 major points of sale as part of an ongoing programme that has included 420 inspection tours and field visits in recent weeks.
Bin Touq also advised consumers to purchase only what they need, avoid hoarding, and report any unfair pricing or market violations via its unified toll-free number (800-1222) to help maintain stable markets for all residents.
The tourism and hospitality sectors, including more than 1,260 hotels and over 40,000 tourism-related companies, are also operating at full capacity, with enhanced safety and logistical measures in place, according to the minister.
Emergency coordination with neighbouring Gulf states and international bodies, including the International Civil Aviation Organisation, allows limited but organised air travel, with 17,498 passengers already repatriated through 160 flights since March 1, he added.
The next phase will include more than 80 scheduled flights per day, with a capacity to transport over 27,000 passengers.
The minister affirmed that the UAE will cover the living costs of travellers stranded at airports due to flight delays and provide continuous support throughout the disruption.
