MAYS IBRAHIM (ABU DHABI)
Guided by timely alerts and constant advisories, UAE citizens and residents expressed confidence in the country’s readiness amid regional developments. Daily life continued smoothly, with grocery stores fully stocked and shoppers following usual routines.
Retail activity remained steady during the weekend, with supermarkets and shopping centres reporting normal footfall and no signs of stockpiling.
In a statement, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism reaffirmed the resilience of national supply chains. Strategic reserves of essential goods are robust, diversified, and sufficient to meet demand for extended periods, its statement said.
The ministry added that food and non-food items remain available in ample quantities across retail outlets nationwide, with import flows and distribution networks operating as usual.
Abdullah Zayed, an Emirati based in Abu Dhabi, said he’s fully confident in the country’s preparedness.
“We adhered to the alerts and advisories issued by Ministry of Interior throughout the day and everything was calm and orderly at local grocery stores. People were shopping the way they usually do,” he told Aletihad.
Huda Ahmad, a long-time resident of Abu Dhabi, said she felt secure and confident in the authorities’ guidance throughout the day on Saturday.
“Each alert from the authorities was timely and clear, and it was reassuring to see everything running normally. When I went shopping, the stores were fully stocked,” she told Aletihad.
Retailers also confirmed stable conditions. A manager at a leading supermarket chain said deliveries and shelf replenishment were proceeding on schedule.
“We have not seen unusual purchasing patterns, and stock levels across essential categories remain normal,” Sanjay, a store manager in Abu Dhabi, told Aletihad.
The ministry remains in daily coordination with suppliers, distributors, and retailers to ensure round-the-clock availability.
Regular inspections are ongoing to prevent unjustified price increases and protect consumers, in line with UAE Consumer Protection Law.
