DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

Dubai Police has issued a warning over the growing trend of teenagers riding motorbikes and recreational bikes in residential neighbourhoods, particularly during the Holy Month of Ramadan and in the hours following iftar.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, stressed that such behaviour poses serious risks to the riders themselves and to others. It also causes disturbance to residents and disrupts public comfort.

He explained that some teenagers operate motorbikes and recreational bikes in internal roads and residential squares without fully understanding the dangers involved or complying with safety requirements.

“This exposes them to the risk of being run over or colliding with vehicles and pedestrians, especially in family-oriented areas with a high presence of children and senior citizens,” he continued.

Major General Al Mazrouei confirmed that this behaviour constitutes a legal violation and a direct threat to road safety. “Traffic patrols have intensified monitoring in residential areas and have recently recorded several cases. The individuals were stopped for their own safety and the safety of other road users. The bikes were impounded, reports were filed at police stations, guardians were summoned, and the necessary legal measures were taken,” he revealed.

He also urged parents to take full responsibility and refrain from allowing their children to ride motorbikes or recreational bikes on public roads or within residential communities.

Dubai Police receive reports and observations regarding such behaviour through the “We Are All Police” service on 901 or via the “Police Eye” feature on the Dubai Police app.

Major General Al Mazrouei emphasised that community cooperation plays a key role in reducing this phenomenon and strengthening safety in residential neighbourhoods.

He also called on community members to demonstrate responsible behaviour and respect the privacy of residents, noting that driving is a responsibility that requires awareness and adherence to the law.

“Prevention begins at home through continuous supervision and guidance to protect young people and the wider community,” he concluded.
