Ahead of the launch of the first phase of the UAE's passenger railway network later this year, Etihad Rail has provided a preview of the brand-new Abu Dhabi Station, which will be situated in Mohamed bin Zayed City, near the busy industrial hub of Mussafah.
Phase one of the passenger rail network, which will connect 11 cities and regions in the country, will initially see the introduction of four stations in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah and Al Hilal area in Fujairah.
The remaining phase one stations in Al Sila', Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira'a, Al Faya and Al Dhaid will be brought online at a later stage.
Etihad Rail shared a video on X on Tuesday, offering a glimpse of the new station, saying: "A closer look at Abu Dhabi Station in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, selected to serve existing communities and support future growth.
"Located near Mussafah and opposite Dalma Mall, the station was chosen based on demand, accessibility, and proximity to surrounding neighbourhoods, reflecting a people-first approach to national infrastructure planning."
The video shows the front of the building with its silver and grey facade, and an aerial view of the facilities.
Inside, the station is fitted with escalators, turnstiles and modern digital trip information display boards.
There is also a view of the concourse, the double-track platform, one of the sleek, new silver trains, with two members of the train crew on board, wearing smart khaki uniforms.
Etihad Rail Network, Eng. Mohammed Alshehii, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, said the rail service, with the slogan "We Move Together", has been designed to offer a reliable, congestion-free alternative for intercity travel.
The trains have been tested and certified to the highest international safety and quality standards. Each train can accommodate up to 400 passengers and will be operated using the latest systems to ensure reliability and security, he previously said.
Etihad Rail revealed that the trains have been designed to provide a comfortable and modern travel experience, featuring safe and ergonomic seating, contemporary interior designs, full Wi-Fi coverage, and individual power outlets at every seat.
Services will operate on a precise and regular schedule, providing passengers with a reliable and efficient alternative that ensures smooth and speedy travel between cities, free from road congestion.
