Dubai Police warn against fraudulent recruitment offers on social media

DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The Anti-Fraud Centre, part of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, has issued a new warning to the public about fraudulent advertisements on social media platforms that falsely claim to provide recruitment and placement services for domestic workers and auxiliary staff, but are actually orchestrated by scammers seeking to obtain financial gains illicitly.

Safe Recruitment Practices

The Anti-Fraud Centre urged residents seeking to hire domestic help to deal exclusively with licensed and accredited recruitment offices within the UAE.  The Centre strongly advised against transferring any funds to entities or individuals who promote recruitment services outside official legal channels. "Adhering to approved procedures is the only way to ensure the legal rights of all parties—the employer, the worker, and the agency—are protected," the centre remarked.

#BewareofFraud

This warning is part of the ongoing #BewareofFraud campaign, which aims to enhance public vigilance against evolving criminal tactics. Dubai Police reiterated the need to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of any service provider before sharing personal information or making payments.

Report Suspicious Activity

To maintain a safe community, the Anti-Fraud Centre encouraged the public to report any fraudulent activity or suspicious online offers immediately. Reports can be made through the following official channels:

·      Dubai Police Smart App: Available on all major mobile platforms.

·      eCrime Platform: The dedicated portal for reporting cybercrimes.

·      Call Centre: Dial 901 for non-emergency inquiries and report
