DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The Anti-Fraud Centre at Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigation is urging the public to be vigilant against scammers offering fake work visas.

These fraudsters often lure victims with false promises of employment and visa sponsorship that have no legal basis, a notice issued on Sunday said.

The warning comes as part of the ongoing #BewarOfFraud campaign, where police officials are reminding everyone that the only safe way to secure a visa is through official government channels and legally licensed recruitment agencies.

How to Protect Yourself

To avoid falling victim to these schemes, Dubai Police recommends the following:

- Verify First: Always double-check the authenticity of any visa offer through the relevant official authorities before making any payments

- Use Authorised Channels: Only deal with accredited offices and government platforms to process your paperwork

- Stay Cautious: Be wary of individuals or unofficial groups promising "guaranteed" visas outside of standard legal procedures.

How to Report a Scam

The force urged the public to report such scammers if they have been targeted by or have spotted a suspicious offer, as reporting such incidents helps protect the entire community:

- The Dubai Police Smart App: A quick and easy way to report directly from your phone

- The eCrime Platform: Specifically designed for reporting online crimes and digital fraud

- Call 901: For non-emergency enquiries and to speak with a specialist.
