ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

TRENDS Research & Advisory held a coordination meeting with officials from Russia Today (RT), discussing implementation mechanisms for several joint research, media projects and shared knowledge initiatives expected to be carried out in 2026, including a joint research study titled Smart Media and Soft Power. The discussion took place at the RT pavilion at the summit in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting came as part of TRENDS' efforts to strengthen research, knowledge, and media cooperation and partnerships between think tanks and major international media institutions.

The meeting focused on reinforcing mutual understanding and advancing the existing cooperation between the two parties in research, knowledge, and media fields through future joint projects and initiatives.

The meeting highlighted producing joint analytical reports, organising media events and dialogue sessions, delivering specialised training courses and programmes, and facilitating the exchange of expertise and experience. The goal is to promote intellectual dialogue and the exchange of perspectives on contemporary regional and international issues.

Strategic Cooperation

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, stated that this meeting marks the continuation of the strategic cooperation with RT, through which both sides aim to build a strong partnership that produces rigorous research and media content reflecting global developments and serving both decision-makers and the wider public.

He explained that the meeting aligns with TRENDS’ commitment to strengthening its strategic partnerships with leading global media and research institutions, foremost among them RT, and supports the centre’s vision of shaping the future of global media through scientific research and constructive intellectual dialogue.

Dr. Al-Ali noted that the scientific and media partnership with RT enhances research and media production by developing research-driven, knowledge-based, and analytically grounded content that addresses current global issues. He added that both sides are determined to continue their sustainable collaboration in organising research, intellectual, and media events that bring together academics, researchers, decision-makers, and media professionals to discuss global developments and emerging trends.

Training Programmes and Courses

Maya Manna, Director of RT Arabic, said that cooperation between RT Arabic and TRENDS Research & Advisory has been ongoing for more than a year and expressed her delight at announcing that RT Arabic will participate in a research study on journalism and media. She added: “I am confident in our ability to make a valuable contribution to this study, as a widely viewed channel with two decades of professional experience.”

TRENDS Research & Advisory and RT Arabic are working to expand their collaboration to include launching joint training programmes and courses, conducting specialised field, analytical, and media studies, and continuing coordination on several innovative joint research and media initiatives.
