Through its cross-border humanitarian work and sustainable development initiatives, the UAE continues to strengthen its role as an active partner in advancing human rights worldwide, said Dr. Mohamed Atiq Al Falahi, Director-General of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation.

Speaking to Aletihad on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on Wednesday, Dr. Al Falahi highlighted that providing support to those who need it most is one of the key ways the country consolidates human rights on the ground.

In collaboration with nonprofit and charitable organisations, the UAE Government develops initiatives that respond to the needs of the world’s most vulnerable populations, upholding the ideals of tolerance, harmony, and respect for human dignity.

“The Zayed Humanitarian Foundation, which has been active for over 33 years and has reached more than 185 countries worldwide, is committed to the UAE’s approach of safeguarding human dignity, promoting justice and humanitarian solidarity, and embodying the vision of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who made giving and benevolence a cornerstone in building a society based on compassion and mutual respect,” Dr Al Falahi told Aletihad.

On Human Rights Day, the foundation emphasised the need to bolster international collaboration, unify humanitarian endeavours, and develop innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life in underprivileged communities, he added.

“This enables humanitarian and charitable organisations to fulfil their noble mission of supporting people wherever they are, alleviating their suffering, and empowering them to build their future with confidence and dignity.”
