Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, confirmed that enforcement teams seized 49 vehicles and 25 motorcycles, and issued 3,153 various traffic violations during the Eid Al Etihad celebrations.

He noted that these measures were prompted by several drivers engaging in dangerous behaviour that violated traffic rules and regulations.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan explained that some drivers misuse national occasions and public holidays as an opportunity to engage in chaotic acts, reckless driving, and behaviour that endangers their own lives and the lives of other road users. These actions include performing unlawful stunts and races, as well as causing disturbances in residential areas.

He stressed that such practices contradict the values of Emirati society and do not reflect the national spirit associated with these special occasions.

He added that Dubai Police had previously warned against such behaviour and urged the public to celebrate in a civilised manner befitting the country’s reputation.

However, some drivers insisted on disregarding these instructions, prompting firm action to be taken against them, including the impoundment of their vehicles.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan emphasised that such practices can lead to serious accidents and cause damage to others’ property.

He reiterated that the police will not tolerate any conduct that disrupts public order or endangers the community, and that legal action will be taken against anyone who commits violations that undermine public safety or spoil the community’s joy during this national occasion.

Brigadier bin Suwaidan called on parents to take responsibility and keep an eye on their children, warning of the dangers of allowing them to roam the streets unsupervised during the celebrations or permitting them to use spray on vehicles or pedestrians.
