SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)
Beyond yachts and boat charter services, Abu Dhabi International Boat Show (ADIBS) 2025 highlighted projects that advance the emirate’s marine transport system.
Abu Dhabi Maritime, which took part in the event as a partner, presented its latest initiatives - from safety to digital transformation, regulatory updates, and sustainability efforts.
“Our participation in the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show confirms the entity’s presence as a key partner in shaping the future of the maritime sector,” said Dr Haya Aldaghlas, Director for Strategy and Regulations at Abu Dhabi Maritime.
Dr Aldaghlas said they are collaborating with Abu Dhabi Mobility to make the emirate’s marine transport ecosystem smarter, more accessible, and better connected.
She added that this partnership represents “a pivotal step in strengthening water taxi services, improving connectivity between marine destinations, and offering innovative digital solutions that support user experience and make planning and navigating Abu Dhabi’s waterways easier.”
Dr Aldaghlas invited the public to experience Abu Dhabi’s waterways through its marine transport.
Community members can explore these transport services through Abu Dhabi Maritime’s new Al Nalia app.
“The Al Nalia app also allows users to learn key laws and regulations [related to the sector], ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and sustainable experience,” Dr Aldaghlas said.
Abu Dhabi Mobility, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Maritime, operates several water taxi routes, including Yas Beach, Al Raha Beach, Yas Island, Marsa Mina, and Louvre Abu Dhabi.
“We also operate ferry routes between Saadiyat Island, Al Aliah Island, Dalma Island, and the Al Dannah in Al Dhafra Region,” Dr Aldaghlas said.
Highlighting the service’s growing popularity, she added that since 2021, the authority has so far welcomed over 700,000 marine transport riders.
These services offer “a wonderful way to enjoy exceptional views of our waterways and make them accessible to everyone,” she said.
For Abu Dhabi Maritime, ADIBS is a key platform where it can engage with its industry partners.
“These events are an important opportunity to … highlight Abu Dhabi Maritime’s role, together with Abu Dhabi Mobility, in building a more sustainable, efficient, and innovative maritime ecosystem that serves both the community and the marine economy in the emirate,” Dr Aldaghlas said.
Speaking to Aletihad, Ahmad Fakhro, spokesperson for ADIBS 2025, said several international brands unveiled their latest innovations at the show.
Fakhro said 31% of exhibitors and brands were local, while 69% were from different parts of the world, highlighting the global appeal and continued growth of ADIBS.
“The boat show serves as a vital hub for B2B opportunities, networking, and knowledge exchange, positioning Abu Dhabi as a leading global maritime destination,” he added.
