DUBAI (ALETIHAD)
Dubai Police, represented by the People of Determination Empowerment Council, successfully concluded on Wednesday its participation in the seventh edition of the AccessAbilities Expo, which took place over three days at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
This participation underscored Dubai Police's commitment to showcasing the latest services, technologies, innovative equipment, and smart solutions tailored to meet the needs of both employees and customers with determination. This aligns with Dubai’s vision of creating a city friendly to People of Determination (PoD).
Major Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Police People of Determination Empowerment Council, said, "Our participation in AccessAbilities Expo embodies the Dubai Police's strategic vision to empower individuals with determination and facilitate their full integration into the workplace and society. We are committed to enhancing inclusivity and fostering innovation in our service delivery. At this event, we showcased cutting-edge smart technologies and equipment specifically designed to meet the needs of people of determination, both as employees and customers."
Universal Accessibility Pack
The Dubai Police introduced the ‘Universal Accessibility Pack’ service available on the Force’s official website for People of Determination. This innovative feature aims to enhance user-friendliness, allowing individuals of determination to access all available services easily. This initiative aligns with the visionary leadership's objective of enhancing their happiness and improving their quality of life.
People of determination can easily access the service by visiting the Dubai Police website and clicking on the top-left icon with the 'People of Determination' logo. With a simple click, the “Universal Accessibility Pack” service would instantly appear, along with a variety of other services, including a smart reader programme, a virtual sign language translator, assistance settings for individuals with attention deficit and reading difficulties, support for those with epilepsy seizures, and a colour contrast feature for individuals with visual impairments and other visual disabilities.
On-the-Go
The stand also showcased the ‘On-the-Go’ initiative, the first of its kind globally, which provides traffic services at fuel stations. This initiative provides free vehicle repair services for people of determination, pregnant women, and senior citizens. ‘On-the-Go’ initiative exemplifies the collaboration between the public and private sectors, reflecting Dubai Police's vision to deliver smart, human-centred services that enhance community happiness and improve quality of life.
Inclusive Workshops and Activities
Over three days, the Dubai Police stand showcased a diverse array of security, traffic, community, and criminal-related services specifically designed for people of determination. A standout feature was the "Immediate Support" service on the Dubai Police website, which allows individuals to register their information for priority assistance during emergencies.
Another highlight was the ‘Ghiath’ patrol, which offered participants a unique simulation experience. This allowed them to drive patrol vehicles through a specially designed virtual program, creating an engaging and interactive environment.
Meanwhile, the Hemaya Schools actively participated by offering student activities and introducing the "Smart Glove," an invention designed to assist individuals with Erb's Palsy in improving their upper limb mobility. Additionally, a special edition of the "Khalid" magazine was distributed among visitors at the Dubai Police stand. This edition focused on people of determination, sharing uplifting stories that promote values of tolerance, coexistence, and integration among younger generations, while highlighting their capabilities and potential. A sign language interpreting service was also available for deaf visitors, provided by a certified team of interpreters.
Moreover, the Positive Spirit Council of Dubai Police organised inclusive workshops specifically designed for people of determination, such as "With Our Touch, We Create Art." This workshop aimed to enhance sensory and motor skills through creative arts. Additionally, the Quality of Life Centre offered the ‘Art Therapy’ workshop, which focused on improving mental health through engaging in crafts and projects.
