Abu Dhabi Police have called on motorists to drive safely and adhere to the reduced speed limit of 80 km/h during foggy conditions.
Drivers should also maintain a safe following distance and avoid any distractions while behind the wheel.
In a statement, Abu Dhabi Police said it it uses a range of innovative methods to keep drivers informed about changing speed limits in areas affected by fog, including urgent alerts through Abu Dhabi Police’s social media channels, early warning notifications sent directly to smartphones when dense fog is detected, and messages displayed on smart gates across internal and external roads, as well as on variable messaging boards along roadways.
Authorities also employ automated speed reduction systems, and restrictions on buses and trucks during periods of reduced visibility, to ensure the safety of all road users.
