ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Emirates National Schools announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unique World Robotics, on the sidelines of the upcoming NASA Space Apps Challenge, scheduled for October 4-5, 2025, at the Mohammed Bin Zayed City campus in Abu Dhabi.

The challenge is expected to attract participation from students across 183 countries, establishing it as a leading global platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among promising young minds. The event is held in partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre and Archer Aviation.

The agreement was signed by Lachlan Ewen MacKinnon, Director General of Emirates National Schools, and Bansan Thomas George, Head of the Local NASA Space Apps Challenge Team in the UAE.

Globally organised by NASA, the challenge aims to attract young talent from around the world to develop innovative solutions for space and technology challenges, enhancing the role of scientific research in supporting sustainable development.

MacKinnon expressed his pride in hosting this global event, which will bring together students from 183 countries. He described it as a testament to the UAE's position as a global hub for innovation and a meeting point for international talent. He emphasised that this partnership reflects the schools' commitment to providing an innovative educational environment and preparing a generation capable of creativity and contributing to the nation's scientific journey.

Unique World Robotics praised the strategic partnership with Emirates National Schools, stating that it opens new horizons for students to discover their talents and apply them in strategic fields such as space engineering, artificial intelligence, and advanced robotics.

The participation of this significant number of countries underscores the UAE’s pioneering role in preparing future leaders and equipping them with the skills necessary to lead the space and science sectors at local, regional, and international levels.
