At SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, the wonders of the ocean are brought to life not just through exhibits and marine life encounters, but through the passion and expertise of its educators like Sheikha Aisha Al Qassimi.
In her role as educational instructor, the 25-year-old Emirati works on connecting visitors with the mysteries of the sea while fostering awareness about marine conservation.
“I’ve always been someone who craves knowledge about everything,” she told Aletihad.
“In philosophy, there’s an idea that to know everything about everything, you must at least know something about everything. That’s why I chose to study cellular and molecular biology for my bachelor’s degree and luckily, my career began at just the right place – SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.”
Her role goes far beyond guiding visitors through the park. Al Qassimi develops and leads a range of programmes designed to engage young learners and spark curiosity.
From camps and sleepovers to monthly animal celebrations, these initiatives immerse children in hands-on experiences.
Programmes like “Becoming a Scientist”, where kids use real lab equipment, or “What It Takes to Be a Rescuer”, run in collaboration with The Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Centre, blend fun with education while instilling a sense of responsibility toward the ocean.
“The most rewarding part of my journey at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi has been the guests’ reactions - there is something incredible about seeing the fascination on our guests’ faces as soon as they step into the park,” Al Qassimi said.
“The UAE, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi in particular, is a beautifully multicultural and diverse place, which allows us to learn from, respect, and appreciate the different perspectives of people from all over the world. What’s truly special is seeing how, despite our differences, we’re all connected by the ocean. No matter where we come from, it unites us in ways that highlight both our uniqueness and shared human values.”
On Emirati Women’s Day, Al Qassimi feels fortunate to be part of a nation that empowers its women to thrive in their chosen fields.
“Thanks to the UAE’s unwavering support and to my job here at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, I’ve had incredible opportunities to grow into the proud Emirati I am today,” she said.
“To all Emirati women dreaming of a career in science or education, I ask that you never give up or compare yourself to others. Compete only with the person you were yesterday. Stay proud and stand taller every day.”
