As part of the "Be Aware of Fraud" campaign, Dubai Police's Anti-Fraud Centre, under the General Department of Criminal Investigation, has apprehended an individual involved in posting fraudulent advertisements on websites and social media. The scammer falsely claimed to offer rental apartments at attractive prices.

Dubai Police urged the public to report any suspicious advertisements or fraud attempts immediately through the Dubai Police app or by calling 901. They stressed that public awareness and cooperation are essential in combating such crimes.

Authorities explained that the scammer targeted individuals seeking housing by requesting advance payments or deposits to secure bookings. Once the money was transferred, the scammer would disappear without fulfilling any commitments. This behaviour, police emphasised, constitutes cyber fraud and is punishable by law. The Anti-Fraud Centre handles such cases with the utmost seriousness.

Dubai Police advised the community to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to similar schemes. Residents are urged not to transfer any money until they have verified the landlord’s identity and confirmed property ownership, and to ensure contracts are formalised through official and approved channels.
