The 11th edition of the International Conference in Dermatology and Aesthetics (AIDA) opened today in Abu Dhabi, bringing together global experts and specialists to discuss advancements in dermatology, cosmetic surgery, laser treatments and the integration of artificial intelligence in clinical practice.
Supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the three-day event features strong participation from regional and international dermatology and cosmetic associations. The opening day witnessed a significant turnout and included workshops and scientific sessions focused on anti-aging, innovative dermatological treatments, and evidence-based practices.
In his remarks, Dr Khaled Othman, Founder and President of the conference, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to healthcare excellence and investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise. He said the event is a platform for sharing best practices and emerging research in skin disease management and aesthetic medicine.
Day one included lectures on treatment approaches for vitiligo, psoriasis, hand eczema, alopecia areata, atopic dermatitis, and the use of laser technology in hair loss and acne scar treatments. The programme also covered topics such as facial contouring methods endorsed by plastic surgery societies, and radiofrequency microneedling.
A dedicated workshop on safe filler injection techniques was held, offering hands-on training for doctors on this non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to smooth wrinkles and enhance facial features.
Dr Meera Al Adawi, Vice President of the conference and Consultant Dermatologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, said AIDA 2025 features top-tier experts who will share knowledge and insights that shape the future of dermatology and aesthetic medicine in the region.
Dr Fatima Hassan Al Marzouqi, Scientific Committee Chair, emphasised the event’s role as a networking platform for professionals aiming to innovate in dermatology. She noted that the agenda includes live demonstrations, research presentations, case discussions, expert meetings and competitions for resident physicians from the GCC.
Dr Huda Rajab Ali, Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee and Chair of Dermatology at AHS–SEHA, said the conference is an ideal platform for dermatologists and plastic surgeons to learn about the latest global treatment protocols, with over 60 experts from the UAE and abroad participating.
Running until May 4, the conference also hosts the AIDA Exhibition, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and medical devices in dermatology, lasers, and cosmetic treatments. Around 25 companies are participating, many introducing their innovations for the first time in the region.
