ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
The UAE National Guard announced on Friday that its Search and Rescue Team is actively contributing to the humanitarian mission in Myanmar to assist in the aftermath of the earthquake. The rescue efforts come in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) and Abu Dhabi Police.
The National Guard’s Search and Rescue Team continues to play a vital role in the humanitarian efforts in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. This mission followed a 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Mandalay on March 28, 2025.
This participation is part of the UAE's broader commitment to address the urgent humanitarian needs arising from the disaster. The earthquake caused extensive damage, resulting in loss of life and property, as well as the collapse of numerous homes and infrastructure. The situation required immediate action to support affected communities and rescue those trapped.
As part of the joint relief efforts, the team has conducted intensive search and rescue operations, utilising advanced equipment and technology to locate victims trapped under the rubble, and carrying out precise evacuation operations in coordination with local authorities.
These efforts have led to the recovery of several bodies, which were handed over to the authorities in Myanmar, underscoring the UAE's commitment to its pioneering humanitarian role in disaster response and support for affected communities worldwide without discrimination.
