Dr. Hamad Al Kaabi, Chief Aletihad News Center Officer, emphasised that the UAE Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan viewed humanitarian work not only as a duty, but as a lifelong mission. Sheikh Zayed ensured Emirati aid reached people in need regardless of religion or ethnicity, setting a standard for humanitarianism that has shaped the UAE's approach to charitable work, Dr. Al Kaabi added.
He highlighted that Sheikh Zayed's vision was not limited to temporary assistance but rather sought to facilitate sustainable development that would ensure a decent future for entire communities, focusing on projects that provided housing, water infrastructure, and essential services in many countries.
Dr. Al Kaabi said: "Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, is considered a global symbol of humanitarian work and giving. He dedicated his life to serving humanity without discrimination, and his efforts contributed to achieving development and assisting those in need around the world."
He added that Sheikh Zayed's philanthropic approach was institutionalised through the establishment of several major charitable organisations that continue to serve humanity to this day. These include the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, which provides support in education, healthcare, and emergency relief, and the Emirates Red Crescent, which has grown into one of the most prominent humanitarian organisations globally.
