The UK Foreign Relations Forum has awarded TRENDS Research & Advisory the Leading Institution in Counter-Extremism Award. During a panel discussion held at the House of Lords, British MP Daniel Kawczynski handed the award to Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS.
The event, attended by several Lords, researchers, and experts, addressed the importance of combating extremist ideologies and the global threat posed by terrorist organisations, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood, to international stability.
This marks the second time TRENDS has been honoured in the British Parliament, reaffirming its active contributions to countering extremist ideologies and promoting moderate discourse based on research and analysis.
During a panel discussion, Sir Daniel Kawczynski praised TRENDS’ role, stating that the award was recognised for its research efforts in confronting extremist ideologies, particularly those propagated by the Muslim Brotherhood. He highlighted TRENDS’ studies and publications on the group and key references in counter-extremism efforts.
Sir Kawczynski emphasised the critical role of think tanks and research centres in providing profound insights and innovative solutions.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, expressed his pride in receiving the award. He noted that the UK Foreign Relations Forum’s recognition of TRENDS reflects international appreciation for its research contributions in combating extremism.
Dr. Al-Ali stressed that knowledge is the most potent weapon against extremist ideologies, emphasising that TRENDS fulfils this role through its studies and research.
He highlighted TRENDS’ Encyclopedia on the Muslim Brotherhood, which consists of 35 volumes, 14 of which have already been published and translated into multiple languages. The encyclopedia debunks the Brotherhood’s ideology, strategies, positions, operations, and financial mechanisms.
Dr. Al-Ali reaffirmed TRENDS’ commitment to producing analytical studies that challenge extremist narratives and promote constructive ideas based on values of coexistence, tolerance, and human fraternity, contributing to a more stable future.
This recognition marks the second time TRENDS has been honoured in the British Parliament in three months. It also follows the recent award from the UAE Ministry of Tolerance, which granted TRENDS the Tolerance Award during the Civilizations Dialogue Conference opening day in Abu Dhabi. The Emirates Scholar Research Center organised the conference with the UAE Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence.
