Aspen Medical, a leading healthcare solutions provider, and BlueRoom, a pioneer in mixed reality (MR) technology for critical skills development, have joined hands to introduce MR technology to enhance military healthcare training at the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX), currently being held in Abu Dhabi.

The partnership enables medics to practise medical procedures in high-risk scenarios, improving readiness.

Speaking to Aletihad, Aspen Medical's Chief Partnerships Officer, Al Martin said technology can enhance health literacy and primary healthcare for military forces, enhancing readiness, cardiovascular health, and overall fitness, crucial for military capability.

"Healthcare is going down the path of embracing new models of care and adopting technology, including AI, to diagnose and support clinical decision-making. Aspen Medical finds it important to connect and adopt these technologies to improve our service offerings and improve outcomes for our customers, including the military and armed forces," Martin said.

He highlighted the company's success in the UAE, focusing on health services, training, and development in public health and defence sectors.

"The UAE and the region are incredibly important to Aspen Medical, and we look forward to supporting the defence and national security sectors in the region for many years to come," Martin added.

Also speaking to Aletihad, Benjamin Krynski, CEO of BlueRoom, shared their key innovations at IDEX 2025.

"We are showcasing the BlueRoom MR simulator, which originated from the Australian Defence Innovation Hub. It addresses challenges in aircraft combat zones and training for high-value assets. The system immerses users in a virtual environment, allowing them to practise fine motor skills with real-world equipment. We have won multiple innovation awards, including the IDEX 2025 Innovation Award."

He further explained: "The system, displayed in the Australian pavilion, enables the UAE defence sector to train on aircraft, naval vessels, and helicopters-saving costs while providing rapid training for combat medics and aeromedical capabilities. This system is a game changer for the UAE, a mature and professional military."

Krynski also discussed advancements in combat medicine.

"The global evolution of combat medicine, including using blood products and surgical procedures, allows doctors to perform life-saving interventions on the front lines. This is vital as new injury patterns emerge, especially from drone strikes. Modern military forces need training for prolonged field care, which BlueRoom can support with cost-effective simulations."
