ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Mohamed Ahmed Al Hosani, a graduate with a master’s degree in international law from Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, has proven that academic success can accompany ground-breaking innovation in agriculture.
Driven by determination and patience, Al Hosani embarked on his farming journey, leveraging the knowledge of seasoned professionals to build a unique project that earned him prestigious accolades, including fourth place for Best Organic Farm 2024 at the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Awards.
Located in the Al Hiyar area, about 45 kilometres from Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, Al Hosani's organic farm spans 33,000 square meters. It has rapidly risen to prominence in just a few years.
The farm boasts over 60 varieties of local plants and flowers, along with over 10,000 seedlings, all thriving alongside wheat fields cultivated using advanced drip irrigation techniques to conserve water.
The fifth season of the UAE’s ‘World’s Coolest Winter’ campaign has launched under the theme ‘Green Tourism,’ focusing on sustainable agricultural initiatives led by Emiratis. Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, the National Agricultural Center, and local tourism authorities, the campaign aims to spotlight successful eco-friendly farming projects and promote sustainable tourism across the country.
This initiative aligns with the UAE’s domestic tourism strategy, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
The strategy seeks to develop an integrated tourism ecosystem that fosters local engagement and highlights the nation’s innovative approach to sustainable development.
By encouraging visitors to explore these green projects, the campaign underscores the UAE’s commitment to blending environmental stewardship with tourism growth.
