ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi has launched a new programme requiring all residents to register their cats and dogs.
The initiative, effective from February 3, aims to create a centralised database of pets through the TAMM portal. This step is crucial for enhancing animal welfare and ensuring responsible pet ownership.
Owners have a one-year grace period to register their pets without penalties, while establishments must comply within six months. The programme emphasises the importance of animal health, including vaccinations, microchipping, and regular veterinary check-ups.
Veterinary clinics will play a vital role in the programme, assisting owners with registration and ownership transfers.
The DMT encourages collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the programme's success and create a safer environment for pets and their owners in Abu Dhabi.
