Inaugural Al Ain Date Festival generates sales of more than Dh1m, attracts 40,000+ visitors

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The inaugural Al Ain Date Festival, organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, has successfully concluded at Al Hili Oasis in Al Ain city.

The Al Ain Date Festival generated sales of more than Dh1 million and attracted over 40,000 visitors with 140 farmers and exhibitors. The festival featured seven major date competitions, offering 70 prizes worth more than Dh1,750,000.

The festival showcased the finest Emirati dates and highlighted the quality of local and international production. The event encouraged farmers to expand the cultivation of premium varieties, promoting sustainability and advancing date production in the UAE.

Further, the festival highlighted the historical significance of palm trees as an integral part of Abu Dhabi's heritage and contributes to deepening community connection to the UAE's agricultural traditions.

The event included a variety of competitions and events celebrating the date harvest season, including seven main date competitions focusing on such categories as Al Ain Elite, Khalas, Fard, Dabbas, Bumaan, Shishi and Zamli.
