The Permanent Committee for Human Rights welcomed the statement by Reem Alsalem, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Girls, during her visit to the country, highlighting that it reflects the unwavering endeavours of the UAE to achieve gender equality and balance, which is a national priority.

The Committee emphasised that these outcomes and accomplishments reflect the guidance and directives of the UAE’s wise leadership, who firmly believe that progress and success are contingent upon investing in human capital.

The Committee also emphasised that the empowerment of women is essential for the growth and development of a nation and for the creation of a prosperous future for all.

In this context, the Permanent Committee for Human Rights underscored the UAE’s significant milestones in this field, which reinforced the country’s international position.

The UAE's ranking first regionally and seventh globally in the 2024 United Nations Gender Equality Index underscores the country’s commitment to promoting the rights of women and girls by fostering an environment that supports their contributions across various sectors.

Additionally, the Committee highlighted that the UAE is home to more than 200 nationalities, who live in dignity under the country’s laws, which ensure equality and justice for all. These laws are conducive to the establishment of an inclusive environment that respects the rights of all individuals.

The Committee reiterated the UAE’s commitment to strengthening collaborations with international organisations to further advance its efforts in the field of human rights.
