President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Her Excellency Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, discussed various aspects of cooperation between the UAE and the European Union during a phone call on Monday, and explored ways to further strengthen these ties.
The call also covered a number of issues of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on the latest developments in the Middle East.
The two sides also addressed the evolving situation in the Syrian Arab Republic. His Highness reiterated the UAE’s commitment to Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while ensuring security and stability in the country.
He also reaffirmed the UAE’s support for efforts that fulfil the aspirations of the Syrian people for stability and development.
His Highness and the European Commission President emphasised the need to prioritise dialogue and understanding in Syria during this crucial period, while ensuring the protection and stability of the country’s national institutions.
