H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), on Tuesday received Emine Erdoğan, Wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi.
Emine Erdoğan is visiting the UAE to participate in the Global Women's Forum - Dubai 2024, which commenced on Tuesday in Dubai.
The meeting highlighted the strong friendship between the UAE and Türkiye and explored ways to enhance collaboration, particularly in fostering partnerships between women’s organisations in both countries to empower women and promote family stability.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak emphasised the pivotal role women now play in the Emirati development journey, crediting the continuous support of the country’s leadership for establishing the UAE as a global leader in gender equality.
The UAE ranks seventh globally and first regionally in the Gender Inequality Index 2024, issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak said, “Emirati women play an active role across all sectors, demonstrating excellence and capability in every field, thanks to the unwavering support of our leadership. This support has created an ideal environment for education, work, and innovation. Today, Emirati women are integral partners in sustainable development and serve as a shining example of excellence regionally and globally, reflecting the UAE’s ambitious vision for an empowered and equitable future.”
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak also emphasised the UAE-Turkiye partnership, particularly in social and cultural fields, to enhance women's empowerment and their role in societal development.
Emine Erdoğan expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality she always experiences in the UAE.
She praised H.H. H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarakfor her pioneering efforts in empowering women, strengthening family roles, and addressing humanitarian, developmental, social, and environmental issues.
They expressed hopes for the success of the Global Women's Forum-Dubai 2024 in advancing women’s empowerment worldwide and strengthening their role in promoting family and societal stability.
They also stressed the importance of international cooperation to launch innovative initiatives and sustainable projects that position women as key drivers of comprehensive development, fostering a stable and prosperous future for all.
Following the meeting, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak hosted a luncheon in honour of the Turkish First Lady.
The event was attended by several Sheikhas, ministers, women leaders, and members of the Turkish First Lady’s accompanying delegation.
