High-level UAE delegation visits Turkmenistan to discuss advancing bilateral relations in strategic sectors

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, and Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, have conducted a working visit to Turkmenistan.

They led a delegation that included representatives from various government and private sector entities in the UAE, accompanied by Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Al Ariqi, Representative of the Presidential Court, and Ahmed Al-Hay Al-Hameli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

The delegation discussed ways to develop bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in areas such as Oil & Gas, clean energy, infrastructure, and other vital sectors, as well as opportunities for joint investments between the two countries.

During the visit, the delegation met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan; and Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan.

They conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, wishing Turkmenistan’s leadership and people further progress and prosperity.

They also conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

For his part, the President of Turkmenistan extended his greetings and best wishes to the UAE's leadership and people, expressing his commitment to strengthening and developing bilateral relations across various sectors to benefit both friendly nations.

The visit’s agenda included meetings with Ashirguly Begliev, Advisor to the President on Oil and Gas Affairs, Batyr Amanov, Deputy Prime Minister for Oil and Gas Affairs, and several senior officials from Turkmenistan.

The visit reflects the commitment of both countries' leadership to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation in economic, investment, cultural, tourism, and social sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations and their peoples.

The non-oil trade exchange between the two countries amounted to approximately Dh3.8 billion in 2023.

During the first nine months of 2024, non-oil trade exchange witnessed growth exceeding 75 percent compared to the same period in 2023, hitting approximately Dh4.2 billion.

This growth is driven by an increase of over 82 percent in re-export trade.
