ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Department of Government Enablement (DGE), in collaboration with the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has hosted the 6th Abu Dhabi Government Leadership Forum, bringing together over 300 senior government leaders across two events.

Focused on the theme of Artificial Intelligence: Advanced Technology for Public Services, the forum highlighted Abu Dhabi’s progressive approach to integrating AI into public services, showcasing the emirate's leadership in next-gen transformation.

The 6th edition of the Undersecretaries and Director Generals’ forum, held on 11 October 2024 at the ATRC HQ, gathered key Abu Dhabi senior government officials, including His Excellency Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs and Secretary-General of ATRC. His Excellency Al Bannai delivered a keynote speech on Abu Dhabi’s leadership in enabling AI into public service frameworks, highlighting the strategic role AI will play in enhancing government efficiency.

His Excellency Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of DGE, said: "The Abu Dhabi Government Leadership Forum is a pivotal platform that brings government leaders together under a unified vision— to enable a government ecosystem that truly puts people and efficiency first. The latest edition is a testament to our commitment to embracing innovative technologies in the journey towards an AI -native government.

“Al holds immense potential to transform how we operate, and this forum has provided us with insights and tools necessary to enable this transformation more effectively. Our partnership with ATRC reflects our focus on embedding Al into the core of public services, solidifying Abu Dhabi's leadership in this fast-evolving space."

A key highlight included a fireside chat featuring Dr Najwa Aaraj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), moderated by moderated by His Excellency Saleh Hamed, Executive Director of Digital Cloud and Infrastructure Operations, DGE.

The session delved into how AI is reshaping governance frameworks and enhancing the efficiency of public services, as well as the impact of the new emerging technologies on cyber security. Attendees had the opportunity to explore real-world applications of AI technology to improve decision-making in many fields such as healthcare, aerospace and sustainability.

The 2nd edition of the Executive Directors' Forum, held on 13 September 2024, was attended by senior officials across numerous Abu Dhabi Government entities. The event provided a platform for thought leaders to discuss the application of Generative AI in governance, emphasising AI's role in optimising public service operations.

His Excellency Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary General of ATRC, said: “This forum is a catalyst for shaping the future of public services in Abu Dhabi. By embracing advanced technologies like AI, we are not just enhancing efficiency but reimagining how government serves its people, addressing complex challenges with innovative, forward-thinking solutions.”

The event also showcased demonstrations of autonomous technologies and blockchain applications to explore the potential of these technologies in public services, with cutting-edge innovations designed to address critical challenges in public administration, resource management, and digital security. These demonstrations provided attendees with tangible examples of how advanced technologies can be utilised to improve operational efficiency, ensuring secure and effective government services.

The forums highlighted the strategic role of senior leadership in ensuring that AI-driven transformation are effectively implemented and aligned with Abu Dhabi's broader vision. These focused discussion underscored the necessity of a collaborative approach among government entities, emphasising the importance of leadership in fostering innovation, enhancing transparency and optimising service delivery.

As Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a global leader in digital governance, the insights gained from this forum will play a pivotal role in guiding future initiatives. The event has set the stage for ongoing collaboration and innovation, ensuring that Abu Dhabi remains at the forefront of technological advancements in government operations.
