UAE pledges US$25,000 to support participation of Least Developed Countries, Small Island Developing States in Human Rights Council

Ambassador Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva, announced a pledge of US$25,000 at the pledging event to support the participation of the Least Development Countries and Small Island Developing States in the Human Rights Council through the Voluntary Technical Assistance Trust Fund.

Al Musharakh stated that the contribution aims to ensure that all countries have a voice in international and multilateral fora and to provide technical assistance to support the effectiveness of multilateralism. In this regard, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN highlighted the participation the Human Rights Council in empowering and furnishing the necessary support to the Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States is an investment for a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous world for all.

This pledge is in line with the UAE's prominent role in providing humanitarian assistance, which has contributed to initiatives to support economic growth opportunities that address challenges such as climate change while affirming the UAE's commitment to reducing poverty and promoting peace and prosperity.

The Trust Fund, established in 2012, was funded through voluntary contributions from Member State, provides training programs for delegates with the aim of enabling the Least Developed Countries and Small Island States to participate in the work of the Human Rights Council.
