ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has introduced a licensing framework to establish Healthy Longevity Medicine Centres (HLMCs), marking the first global initiative of its kind. These centres aim to promote wellness, longevity, and disease prevention by offering a comprehensive range of services that integrate patient data from platforms like Malaffi and Ifhas to personalise healthcare journeys for optimal health.

With tailored, collaborative treatments guided by patient goals and clinical advice, these centres will address various aspects of health, including lifestyle, medication, mental wellbeing, and social and environmental factors. They will also provide diagnostic and interventional services to prevent and manage age-related conditions, improve physical fitness, enhance rehabilitation outcomes, and restore health for those with illnesses or disabilities.

Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the DoH, said: “Today’s announcement marks a significant milestone as we continue our transition from a reactive to a proactive healthcare model that places disease prevention at its core. With access to comprehensive data from programmes such as Malaffi and Ifhas, we are better equipped to understand the health needs of our population and promote healthier living.”

Dr. Rashed Obaid Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Healthcare Workforce Planning Sector at DoH, said: “DoH continues to advance its pioneering regulatory framework, setting new benchmarks in healthcare. We have developed comprehensive world-class standards for Healthy Longevity Medicine Centres, outlining the minimum service requirements. I invite current and prospective investors to collaborate with us.”

To support this holistic approach, DoH is also setting new licensing and qualification standards for health coaches, lifestyle medicine practitioners, and exercise physiologists, ensuring a multidisciplinary framework that aligns with international best practices in health and wellness.
