As a young Emirati entrepreneur, I am always inspired by my country’s vision for sustainability. The UAE has set very clear goals to create a green, sustainable future, and it is now our responsibility as Emiratis, especially the youth, to contribute to this mission and create our own path.
As founder of the Rainbow Chimney Library and Publishing House, I’ve experienced and saw how small businesses, like mine, can be influential and have long-term impact when it comes to promoting sustainability in different fields.
Sustainability is not just a trend, it’s essential. Our mother Earth is facing serious environmental challenges, from climate change to running out of resourses, such as fuel, which is essential to generate power. It’s our responsibility to find a solution.
In the UAE, we are fortunate to have leaders who are committed to making our country one of the greenest in the world. But they shouldn’t do it alone. Young entrepreneurs like me need to step up and do our part.
One way I contribute to sustainability is by using eco-friendly materials in my work. I believe that every small action counts. We reduce waste by using recycled packaging, which promotes the responsible usage of natural materials and encourages our customers to do good deeds through our environmental initiatives, such as Eco Club.
This might seem like a small step, but if more businesses adopt these practices, the collective impact would be huge, especially if it involves the younger generation who will work on making these practices daily habits.
Young entrepreneurs are on a mission to be creative and bring fresh ideas to the table that the older generations might not have considered. When you think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions, you re-invent the way entrepreneurs work and think by introducing new directions or angles.
Not long ago, I managed to work in partnership with other eco-conscious businesses to have a bigger impact on my community, as well as explore new opportunities in business that help us move closer to our sustainability goals. I believe that if we keep our eye on the ultimate goal and focus on what matters, then we can inspire other entrepreneurs to step up and do the same or even better.
The UAE government is already leading the way with best practices and initiatives like the UAE Green Growth Strategy and the UAE Net Zero 2050. These goals are motivating each and every one of us to get involved as contributors and young voices to take actions.
We have the ability, creativity, education, and passion to drive change. It’s a must to think about ways to implement and integrate sustainability into everything we do, from the businesses we start to the everyday choices we make.
It’s obvious that the future of the UAE is greener, more sustainable, and empowered by its wise leadership, which is evident in the efforts made by the public and private sectors when it comes to sustainabilty.
I am proud to be a part of this positive change towards embracing sustainability, creating more efficient places to live, and encouraging others to do the same. All for the sake of a brighter, greener future for all of us and the ones who will come after.
