Zayed National Museum, in collaboration with Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital under Emirates Health Services (EHS), launched the “Morning Hour” programme to improve the mental well-being of seniors with memory impairments.
Consisting of five interactive workshops, the initiative aims to enhance communication, evoke memories, and reduce social isolation.
The workshops integrate history and art, allowing participants to create artworks using natural materials like clay, plants, and dyes.
This creative engagement encourages participants to recall personal experiences and connect with Emirati heritage.
Director of Mental Health at EHS, Dr. Noor Al Mheiri, highlighted the initiative's role in promoting mental well-being and fostering community integration.
The Director of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Ammar Albanna, affirmed the programme's positive impact on participants' quality of life through creative expression.
Acting Learning and Public Engagement Director at Zayed National Museum, Nassra Al Buainain, noted that the partnership reflects the museum’s commitment to enhancing community participation, especially among those facing barriers to cultural access.
The “Morning Hour” is part of EHS’s Mental Health Awareness Month initiatives, including exhibitions and workshops aimed at improving the quality of life in the UAE.
Key events include an innovation exhibition on modern mental health treatments, the “Art of Hope” exhibition, and a ceremony honouring winners of the “Mental Health Campaign” competition for innovative ideas.
Additionally, the “Customer Councils” initiative provides direct communication channels with patients and their families to further improve mental health services.
These efforts align with EHS’s national goals, positioning the UAE as a leader in integrated healthcare.
